––––★★★––––As an educator, jazz enthusiast, and lifelong San Diego resident, I've spent decades immersed in this city's arts scene. This platform is my way of giving back to the community that shaped me, while creating something bigger than myself—a hub where artists get recognized, venues get discovered, and people who love the arts can find their next unforgettable experience.

Our manifesto
We believe San Diego’s arts scene deserves authentic, community-driven coverage where diverse voices can engage in respectful dialogue about the music, art, and culture that moves us. Here’s what we stand for and how you can be part of it.
Think of Music In The Air as a forum to share what's percolating in our community's creative minds. I love to write, and I love to talk about music, movies, literature, and the arts that shape our lives. More importantly, I want to encourage anyone who shares this passion to add their voice to the conversation.
Here's my promise to you: If you want to share your thoughts—whether it's about an article I've written, an artist you've discovered, or a cultural experience that moved you—send me your words. I'll read them. I'll respect them. And I'll share them with our community, even if we don't agree. Because it's okay to disagree. In fact, it's more than okay—it's essential.
The goal here is dialogue and discussion, free from negative judgment. I taught in public schools for over 25 years, and I learned to listen to what my students were thinking. Time and again, their viewpoints gave me reason to reflect and sometimes change my own jaded, perhaps corroded thoughts. They made me better. That's what good conversation does.
So please, just write. Share your concert reviews, your thoughts on local theater, your discoveries at art galleries, your takes on new albums or classic performances. Tell us about the artists and venues that deserve attention. Contribute your voice to San Diego's cultural conversation.
One caveat: No political diatribes, please. Take that elsewhere. Music In The Air exists to bring people together through shared love of art and culture—not to divide them through political arguments. Our city is too vibrant, our arts scene too rich, to let partisan politics get in the way of genuine connection.
